ABOUT US

 

Langoustine Grille is an Italian-American restaurant created by Enzo Rinaldo, son of the late Giuseppe and Angelo Torrisi. The restaurant pays homage to the essence of the great Italian-American restaurants of mid-20th century in New York, where delicious, exceptionally well-prepared food was served in settings that were simultaneously elegant, comfortable and unpretentious. Inspired by the 17th-century villa in the hills near Florence which Rinaldo once called home, Langoustine Grille honors old-world Italian roots, life style, food and décor. The food nods to that same history, but take its culinary cues from the great talents and techniques of the present and of the future. Familiar dishes like Scallops Livornese, Linguini Vongole, Langoustine Fra Diavola, Chicken Scarpariello and Baccalà elevated to a new level.

Angelo Torrisi

HEAD CHEF

Born in the outskirts of Modena, Italy, Angelo came to this country in 1976 with his mother at the age of sixteen, inspired by opportunity and emboldened by the confidence typical of that age, as well as his dedication to being the best, he was ready for New York City.

 

After working under famed Massimo Bottura (Osteria Francescana) in Modena, his experience was solidified. Moving up quickly to Assistant Chef then to Head Chef in various restaurants all over the New York Metropolitan area, Angelo honed his craft with the help of two important mentors… one who taught him the technical nature of cooking, the other who imparted his vast knowledge of flavor.

Anthony Fanelli

GENERAL MANAGER

Born in Florence, Tony moved to the United States when he was 16 years old, where he attended high school in Boston.  He went on to study hospitality management at the University of Cornell where he graduated with his bachelor’s degree.  Having worked in New York City the last eight years, Tony has enjoyed the busy lifestyle of the hospitality business and is very excited to be working alongside Chef Angelo Torrisi at Langoustine Grille.
